Biodiversity plays a crucial role in the balance and health of us and our environment. In May, nature is already in its full glory and we can experience an abundance of wild plants. The THM herb walk, led by Dr. Katharina Vogelsang, will give you an insight into the fascinating world of biodiversity on our doorstep. “Medicinal plants” and edible herbs are presented, while at the same time the dangers of confusion are discussed. Some plants can also be important for the survival of certain insects. The herb walk is intended to raise awareness of the importance of biodiversity on campus and in the Wieseck floodplain and offer students the opportunity to experience it directly in their everyday studies. At the end of the approx. 3-hour walk, you will not be “herb experts”, but you will gain an initial insight into the plant world and its importance for humans and animals. And to make sure you don’t miss out on the conviviality, you will enjoy a herb quark together after the walk.
