Our education, future and jobs are at stake.<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
\u27a1\ufe0f Hesse’s universities urgently need investment.<\/div>\n
In Marburg, lecture halls are collapsing and in Giessen, entire departments are in the red. Academic staff are being swamped with administrative tasks, as a result of which teaching is getting worse every year. <\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
\u27a1\ufe0f The universities are currently negotiating the new higher education pact with the state of Hesse.<\/div>\n
It should regulate how much money the universities receive for the next 5 years, including inflation and cost compensation. <\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
\u203c\ufe0f After several postponements of the signing date and ongoing negotiations, we now know:<\/div>\n
\u26a0\ufe0f The state of Hesse wants to cut millions.<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
\u27a1\ufe0f This is catastrophic for the universities and means for us as students and workers at the universities:<\/div>\n
– Job closures and staff cuts<\/div>\n
– Overcrowded seminars, poor supervision and teaching<\/div>\n
– No continued employment of auxiliary staff<\/div>\n
– Possible deletion of entire subjects or degree programs<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
There is also a threat:<\/div>\n
– Higher semester fees<\/div>\n
– more expensive canteen food<\/div>\n
– and we also fear the introduction of tuition fees<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
