DESCRIPTION:Biodiversity plays a crucial role in the balance and health of us and our environment. In May\, nature is already in its full glory and we can experience an abundance of wild plants. The THM herb walk\, led by Dr. Katharina Vogelsang\, will give you an insight into the fascinating world of biodiversity on our doorstep. “Medicinal plants” and edible herbs are presented\, while at the same time the dangers of confusion are discussed. Some plants can also be important for the survival of certain insects. The herb walk is intended to raise awareness of the importance of biodiversity on campus and in the Wieseck floodplain and offer students the opportunity to experience it directly in their everyday studies. At the end of the approx. 3-hour walk\, you will not be “herb experts”\, but you will gain an initial insight into the plant world and its importance for humans and animals. And to make sure you don’t miss out on the conviviality\, you will enjoy a herb quark together after the walk.        \nIf you would like to take part\, please send an e-mail with your full name to greenoffice@thm.de . Participation is limited to 20 places.  \nThe event is a cooperation between the Green Office and the THM AStA.

DESCRIPTION:Dear students\,Do you want to actively help shape your campus and do something for sustainability at the same time? Then now is your chance! On On June 12 and 13\, we cordially invite you to be part of the unique “Create a Difference” project. This project was initiated by students for students and offers you the opportunity to improve our university environment in the long term. Together we want to create new\, cozy common areas that invite you to linger and exchange ideas.Great news: All the building materials for our campaign are already available! So you don’t have to develop anything\, you can get started right away. Your creativity and energy are needed to transform the campus into a more pleasant place to study and relax. There will be a short briefing at the beginning to make it easier to get started – no special previous knowledge or particular manual skills are required. Every contribution counts and is very welcome!       What can you expect on these days? \n\nBuilding activities: Lend a hand and assemble the available materials into seating furniture to create the new outdoor recreation area at the A15.\nExchange and networking: Meet like-minded people\, share your ideas and be inspired.\nFun and community: Experience two days full of teamwork and positive changes on campus. Of course\, you can also join us for just one day or even spontaneously for an hour. \nDrinks and music: Food and drink will be provided to ensure that breaks and a good mood are not neglected.\n\nTake part and be a part of this sustainable transformation! Your participation is not only an opportunity to express yourself creatively\, but also a contribution to improving our university.We look forward to your support and to making the campus a better place together with you! It starts at 2 pm!  In case you are still missing background information: This is the implementation of the student competition that the Green Office announced in winter semester 2023/2024. And now it’s finally becoming a reality. Take another look at the “connAct” concept\, because it is being built. The first seating furniture has already been built and can be used. DESCRIPTION:⚠️ We call on you: UNI-STRIKE #UNKÜRZBAR in Giessen on June 18 as part of a Hesse-wide day of action due to the threat of cuts to universities \n\nTHM-Demo – by the AStA of the THM\n🕓 Wednesday\, June 18\, 12:45 p.m.\n📍 Start: D-Campus (Giessen)\n\nJLU-Demo – by the AStA of the JLU\n🕓 Wednesday\, June 18\, 11:45 a.m.\n📍 Start: Philosophikum II\, in front of House H\n\n📍 Joint final rally – Berliner Platz\, 2:00 pm\n\n‼️ Come in large numbers and bring your fellow students\, Wimis\, Hiwis and Profs with you.\nOur education\, future and jobs are at stake.\n\n➡️ Hesse’s universities urgently need investment.\nIn Marburg\, lecture halls are collapsing and in Giessen\, entire departments are in the red. Academic staff are being swamped with administrative tasks\, as a result of which teaching is getting worse every year. \n\n➡️ The universities are currently negotiating the new higher education pact with the state of Hesse.\nIt should regulate how much money the universities receive for the next 5 years\, including inflation and cost compensation. \n\n‼️ After several postponements of the signing date and ongoing negotiations\, we now know:\n⚠️ The state of Hesse wants to cut millions.\n\n➡️ This is catastrophic for the universities and means for us as students and workers at the universities:\n– Job closures and staff cuts\n– Overcrowded seminars\, poor supervision and teaching\n– No continued employment of auxiliary staff\n– Possible deletion of entire subjects or degree programs\n\nThere is also a threat:\n– Higher semester fees\n– more expensive canteen food\n– and we also fear the introduction of tuition fees\n\n📢 Join us on the street on June 18: \n➡️ Stop the Ministry of Finance’s austerity measures!\n\n➡️ Research and teaching need investment\, not cuts! \nLink to the petition: https://www.gew-hessen-aktiv.de/unterfinanzierung-beenden
