The highlight of the evening is the documentary “Why We Cycle,” which explores cycling culture in the Netherlands. The film highlights the importance of bicycles in everyday life, social interaction, and urban planning.

In this context, the ADFC wants to deliberately focus on children and young people: How can young people get around safely and independently? What conditions do they need to be able to travel on their own to school, to friends’ houses, to sports activities, or to the city center? And what role can mobility tailored to children and teens play in improving the quality of life in our city?

After the film, the ADFC would like to facilitate a group discussion:

• What can we learn from the Netherlands’ experience?
• Which of these can be applied to Friedberg and the surrounding region?
• How can children and young people be more actively involved in issues related to mobility and urban development?
• What does it take for young people to be able to get around safely, independently, and happily?
• What perspectives and ideas do citizens, young people, policymakers, and government officials bring to the table?

The perspectives of young people, in particular, should play an important role in this process. The Youth Council would like to use this evening to highlight the experiences and concerns of the younger generation and to engage in dialogue with city and regional officials.

The ADFC aims to bring together citizens as well as representatives from politics, government, schools, youth organizations, and civil society. The focus is explicitly not just on people who ride bicycles every day, but on the question of how mobility in Friedberg can work well for different generations and life situations.

The movie night is free and does not require registration.

The ADFC looks forward to an evening of film, discussion, and new ideas for youth-friendly and sustainable mobility in Friedberg and the surrounding area.
