Hesse cuts - we lose!

Perhaps you have already heard or read about it on our website:
The state of Hesse is planning massive cuts in the funding of our university.
The new Higher Education Pact is to bring massive restrictions in education and teaching, with the argument that it can no longer be financed.
A heavy blow for THM and all other universities in Hesse.

The situation is already tense: As many of THM’s reserves have already been returned to the state of Hesse, THM already has less money.
And now there is a threat of even greater cuts. According to GEW, up to 10% of jobs at universities in Hesse could be cut or not extended.

What this can mean in concrete terms for THM:

  • Teachers are overloaded and no longer answer emails.
  • Outdated laboratories – the industry has long been working with newer technology.
  • Hardly any practice: fewer exercises, hardly any practicals, instead pure frontal lectures.
  • Shorter opening hours in the library.
  • No more offers outside of lectures – such as sports, excursions or events.
  • Student projects and student workshops will be underfunded

That’s why we have to show together: We want to continue to use our university as usual!

Share the call, mobilize your fellow students – regardless of whether they are interested in university politics or not. Use all distribution lists, talk to others. Only together can we persuade the state government to rethink!

Here is a video of our university president explaining the current situation:

Thank you for your support – for the preservation of THM as we know it!
